Terms of Service

Last updated July 14, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of BFTW, an application made by Apps for Humans LLC (“BFTW,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using BFTW, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use BFTW.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use BFTW. By using BFTW, you represent that you meet these requirements.

Your account

You’re responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, since we use it to sign you in. You’re responsible for all activity that happens under your account. Let us know right away at security@bftw.app if you suspect unauthorized access.

Connecting financial accounts

BFTW uses Plaid to let you connect your bank accounts so transactions can be imported automatically. When you connect an account, you grant BFTW and Plaid the right, and appoint us as your agent with a limited power of attorney, to access and retrieve your account and transaction information from your financial institution on your behalf, solely to provide BFTW’s features to you. BFTW’s access is read-only: we can retrieve your transaction information, but we cannot move money or make changes to your accounts. We are not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or completeness of information provided by your financial institution or by Plaid. You can disconnect a linked account at any time from within the app or by contacting us, which revokes this authorization for that account.

Acceptable use

BFTW is intended for personal budgeting. When using BFTW, you agree not to:

  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to BFTW’s systems or another user’s account or data;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where permitted by law;
  • Interfere with or disrupt the operation of BFTW or the servers or networks used to make it available;
  • Use automated means (scraping, bots, etc.) to access BFTW outside of the app itself; or
  • Use BFTW or its output to train a competing product or a competing AI/ML model.

We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you’ve violated these Terms.

Subscriptions and billing

BFTW is offered on a subscription basis, billed through the Apple App Store.

  • Billing. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each annual billing period unless canceled beforehand. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
  • Introductory pricing. New subscriptions may include a discounted introductory price for a limited period, as shown at checkout. Unless canceled before the introductory period ends, your subscription will automatically renew at the standard price for your selected plan.
  • Cancellation. You can cancel anytime through your Apple ID account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; we don’t provide prorated refunds for partial periods.
  • Refunds. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store, and all refund requests are handled by Apple under its own refund policies. We don’t independently guarantee or issue refunds.
  • Price changes. If we change subscription pricing, we’ll provide notice before the change applies to you, and you’ll have the opportunity to cancel before being charged the new price.

Because subscription purchases are processed by Apple, billing matters like requesting a refund need to go through Apple’s own support channels, not us.

Not financial advice

BFTW helps you track, categorize, and plan around your own spending. It does not provide financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and nothing in the app should be treated as such. You’re responsible for your own financial decisions.

Data and content

You own the transaction and budget data you put into BFTW. By using BFTW, you grant us a limited license to store, sync, and process that data solely to operate the app for you, as described in our Privacy Policy. We don’t claim ownership over your data and won’t use it for purposes unrelated to providing BFTW to you.

Intellectual property

BFTW, including its design, logo, and underlying software, is owned by Apps for Humans LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms don’t grant you any rights to our trademarks, logos, or brand assets.

Service availability

We aim to keep BFTW available and reliable, but we don’t guarantee uninterrupted access. Features that depend on third parties (like bank sync via Plaid) may be temporarily unavailable due to circumstances outside our control.

Disclaimer of warranties

BFTW is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that BFTW will be error-free, secure, or uninterrupted.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apps for Humans LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of BFTW. Our total liability for any claim relating to BFTW will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions, including New Jersey, don’t allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the limitations in this section may not apply to you.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Apps for Humans LLC and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your violation of these Terms, your misuse of BFTW, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

Termination

You may stop using BFTW and delete your account at any time from within the app’s settings or by emailing privacy@bftw.app. We may suspend or terminate your access to BFTW if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the service, with notice where reasonably possible. See our Privacy Policy for what happens to your data after your account is closed.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll notify you by email or through the app before they take effect. Continued use of BFTW after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

Apple App Store terms

If you downloaded BFTW from the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply and take precedence over anything above in the event of a conflict:

  • These Terms are an agreement between you and Apps for Humans LLC, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for BFTW or its content.
  • Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support services for BFTW.
  • If BFTW fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) to you; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to BFTW.
  • Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to BFTW, including product liability claims, claims that BFTW fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection claims.
  • Apple is not responsible for investigating, defending, settling, or discharging any claim that BFTW infringes a third party’s intellectual property rights.
  • You represent that you’re not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo or on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and Apple has the right to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.

Dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Agreement to arbitrate. You and Apps for Humans LLC agree to resolve any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or BFTW through binding, individual arbitration rather than in court, except that either of us may bring a qualifying claim in small-claims court instead. You and we each waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action or class arbitration.

Arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitrator’s decision is final and binding, and judgment on it may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.

Opt-out. You can opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing privacy@bftw.app within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, with your name and a clear statement that you want to opt out. Opting out doesn’t affect any other part of these Terms.

General terms

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, make up the entire agreement between you and Apps for Humans LLC regarding BFTW, and supersede any prior agreements on the subject.
  • Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in full effect.
  • No waiver. If we don’t enforce a provision of these Terms, that doesn’t waive our right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. You may not assign these Terms without our consent.
  • Export compliance. You may not use or export BFTW in violation of applicable U.S. export laws and regulations.
